Founded in the 1950s Jones Bros is rare in having the in-house expertise to manage some of the UK’s biggest civil engineering projects whilst maintaining the flexibility and personable approach of a family business.
Operating from our head office in Ruthin, North Wales, Jones Bros also has regional offices in Bellshill, Scotland and Cardiff, South Wales. With our work across the UK, we set up additional site offices on each project.
In looking towards the future, we consistently strive for sustainable alternatives and offer value engineering solutions whenever possible. We also regularly nominate our projects for the Considerate Constructors Scheme.

As one of the UK’s most innovative civil engineering companies, we persistently explore new and sustainable methods of working to improve our delivery. From applying the latest industry techniques, to minimising the environmental impact of our work, Jones Bros leads the way in inventive and progressive engineering.
We welcome challenging projects, having led on some of the UK’s most intricate civil engineering schemes. Our project teams have experience working in difficult terrains and all-weather conditions. They engage collaboratively to find creative, practical, and cost-effective solutions. We fully embrace the opportunities and variation of work projects can bring.
No job is too complex, from constructing onshore infrastructure for a marine energy project which could power around 180,000 households to building a 9.7km bypass to reduce traffic in residential areas.
Jones Bros owns one of the largest heavy plant fleets in the UK and employs approximately 500 people. We aim for continuous improvement and urge our staff to actively participate in providing feedback to facilitate progression as a business.
We are currently working on contracts in various sectors including energy and renewables, highways, infrastructure, flood and coastal defence, and waste management around the UK.
Jones Bros provides high-quality, accredited training from our in-house training centre located in Denbigh, North Wales. Our experienced team offers specialised plant and machinery training, which includes the modern apprenticeship training scheme, NVQs and courses accredited by the Construction Plant Competence Scheme.
As one of the UK’s first independent modern apprenticeship providers, we have a demonstratable track record in securing apprenticeship opportunities on our projects. We have an established apprenticeship programme and provide a complete portfolio of apprenticeship career development opportunities.
Jones Bros has recruited 25 degree apprentices and more than 50 trainee plant operators over the past three years.
We ensure that the skills and competency gained are in a range of disciplines which will be beneficial for career progression. Our focus is to develop future talent through opportunities such as apprenticeships, traineeships and graduate roles.
As with all sections of our business, our focus is on continuous improvement and innovation. As part of our apprenticeship programme, we have collaborated with our local college whereby our apprentices alternate between blocks of studying and working onsite. This has already proved highly successful with fantastic feedback from our apprentices.
At Jones Bros we believe it is vital to inspire future generations and encourage potential. We further offer work placements and host students carrying out work experience.
Training courses are made available to all our staff. Through our encouragement of training, we have fostered a vibrant environment of learning.
