The A487 Caernarfon and Bontnewydd bypass – a £139 million 50:50 joint venture between Jones Bros and Balfour Beatty to construct the 9.8km bypass– was completed ahead of time and provided a huge economic boost to the area. We also built 17 major structures including three bridges, two viaducts and three new roundabouts.
The project is the largest highway scheme in North Wales, and we ensured it was delivered with measures to enrich biodiversity. The scheme was further awarded both the George Gibby award at the ICE Wales and the environmental and sustainability project of the year honour at the CIHT Cymru Wales awards.
In another major project delivered ahead of schedule, Jones Bros completed the £32 million A605 King’s Dyke level crossing scheme in Cambridgeshire. In which we have won awards for our communication with local and regional stakeholders.
The scheme involved the diversion of 1km length of the existing A605 Peterborough Road, and we also constructed a new bridge as well as two new roundabouts as part of the scheme.
Further projects include the successful completion of the latest phase of a 150-acre business park in Cheshire.
